The Healing Power of Sound: Dr. Krupesh Thacker on Global Music Therapy Day

Welcome to my official space. As a physician, music therapist, and author, my life’s work is dedicated to a singular, profound mission: proving that music is far more than entertainment—it is a powerful tool for clinical healing.

Every year on May 25th, we celebrate Global Music Therapy Day. This vital date kicks off Global Music Therapy Month (25 May – 25 June), serving as the high-intensity launchpad for our year-round global movement: Music Therapy for All.

Our Core Philosophy: Healing with Heritage

The foundation of our work rests on “Healing with Heritage”. Inspired by my father and founding visionary, Dr. Shashikant Thacker, my co-founder Dr. Pooja Thacker and I have spent over a decade blending ancient Indian cultural wellness principles with modern, evidence-based healthcare.

Through Krup Music Heals—the official outreach platform for our movement—we deploy specialized clinical care worldwide. This platform bridges the gap between academic research conducted at the Krup Music Therapy Clinic & Research Centre (KMTCRC) and the patients who need it most.

The A.R.J.U.N. Framework: Confronting Clubfoot Relapse

A primary focus of our therapeutic outreach is supporting the Global Clubfoot Awareness Parv (GCAP) movement. Long-term orthopedic bracing for clubfoot carries a staggering 30% to 40% global relapse rate. This happens because families experience severe psychological burnout and treatment fatigue during the multi-year process.

To combat this, I designed the clinical A.R.J.U.N. Framework to provide holistic support across two targeted pillars:

  • Music Therapy for Clubfoot (Pediatric Module): This module utilizes specific Indian Raags and precise rhythmic synchronization to lower a child’s pain perception. It eases physical anxiety and increases comfort during grueling casting and bracing phases.
  • Music Therapy for Stress Management (Family Support Module): This module protects the mental well-being of parents and caregivers. By reducing clinical anxiety and building spiritual resilience, we ensure high medical compliance and prevent the fatigue that leads to relapse.

A Father’s Proof: From Treatment to Triumph

The ultimate validation of the A.R.J.U.N. Framework happened inside my own home with my son, Parv Thacker, who now serves as our Global Ambassador.

Diagnosed with severe bilateral clubfoot at five months in the womb, his healing journey began immediately through prenatal Garbhsanskar music therapy. Post-birth, we paired standard medical protocols with our framework and the spiritual rhythms of the Gunje Gita.

The results proved that heritage-rooted healing allows a child to do more than just walk—it allows them to rise to their full potential:

  • At Age 2: While still in active orthopedic braces, Parv’s cognitive and physical development accelerated, earning him a Guinness World Record as the world’s youngest singer and actor.
  • At Age 8: He achieved a complete clinical cure and transitioned into a global advocate for children with clubfoot.
  • Grammy Consideration: His therapeutic recordings culminated in the “Sounds of Sanatan: Vol. 1” album, an official FYC project.
